Laurel Saville: Thank you. I’m a little nervous. I’ve never been interviewed before.
LS: Oh, sure, no pressure what so ever <laughing>.
PL: So here we go… What’s your favorite curse word?
LS: Really? Wow. That’s your first question? Um… Asshat? I think it’s a great combination, and says it all.
PL: If you had a free day with no responsibilities and your only mission was to enjoy yourself, what would you do?
LS: Hmmm… I’d go horseback riding. I never really have time to go riding anymore. It’s a great escape. All worries and thoughts just melt away when I’m in the saddle.
PL: Are you lucky?
LS: Sometimes.
PL: Tell me about your best friend.
LS: Finally, an easy one! My best friend is Beth Murray. She was my next door neighbor when I was a kid growing up in Wisconsin. We’ve stayed friends since we were six! I’m actually planning a trip to Scotland to visit. I managed to miss her wedding. She married a Scotsman and lives there now. I haven’t seen her in a year, and can’t wait. I’ve so missed her.
PL: Describe your ideal date.
LS: My guy would surprise me by stopping by my office at the end of the day and drag me away from that “one more thing I have to finish”, and I’d not feel guilty about it. He’d take me to dinner. It wouldn’t have to be fancy, but the food would be great and I’d have his undivided attention. Then afterwards, we’d go somewhere to walk hand in hand, enjoying each other and chatting like old friends. He’d drop me off at home and give me an awesome goodnight kiss. <laughs> I know, it’s kind of cheesy and clichéd.
PL: If you could spend the day with someone you admire (living, dead, or imaginary), who would you pick?
LS: Yikes! Too many choices… Xenophon. He’s an ancient Greek historian and philosopher from the 4th century. He was really quite the free thinker and adventurous soul back then. He preserved Socratic dialogues and served in the army of the Persian prince, Cyrus the Younger, and he even joined the Spartan army which caused him to be exiled from Athens. He just seems really cool. Oh wow, I’m such a history geek!
PL: What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
LS: I always wanted to be an artist, but I can’t even draw stick figures well.
PL: If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
LS: Well done!
PL: Last question, and you’re off the hot seat. What motto do you live your life by?
LS: Whatever your goal, you can get there if you’re willing to work.
