Walking Through Fire
Five Stars
This is a pretty amazing story and I'm really happy to have discovered this author.
Walking Through Fire
Stunning debut novel
A fast-moving, attention-grabbing book, Walking Through Fire is a brilliant debut novel that didn't let me stop, even for a moment. The author's 'voice' has a uniqueness and confidence exciting in a first novel, and the characters feel vividly human. It almost instantly caught me up in the story, and the pace moved along quickly enough that I never found a moment to take a break from reading.
Between the entirely relatable main characters, and just enough attention to environmental detail, I felt immersed and connected. By the time I was halfway through, I felt a vested interest in seeing things turn out for the best; I celebrated and mourned right along with people in the story. By the end, I felt as if I'd been part of the story all along, that I was present for the events, rather than reading them in words.
Walking Through Fire
WOW!
Five stars of pure goodness. This was a richly written story that deftly handled the passages requiring a return to the past, and had adventure and excitement on every level, past and present. I adored the characters, but most especially Laurel and Simon. They were destined for each other. Ms. Bahr is definitely an author to be watched. I know I'll be waiting impatiently for her next one.
